Try our wildlife tour

Exploring the loch by canoe provides the perfect viewing platform for wildlife, moving in relative silence we are not a disturbance enabling us to get up close to birdlife and marine inhabitants. On our travels so far we have seen guillemots, oyster catchers, curlews, gannets, eider ducks, kingfishers, common and grey seals and eagles. On one trip we even caught the whiff of a whale!

They’ve liked it

Fantastic trip - highly recommend for all ages and abilities. Our group consisted of 3 children as young as 10 and 3 adults ranging up to 71 - each and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Ian is the perfect host - he is extremely knowledgeable , saw lots of wildlife

Our party of 3 included my 75 yr old Dad and 9 yr old son. We met Ian in the Lochgoilhead car park for our activity and agreed on our trip that day. It was a brilliant experience

We had an amazing time canoeing with Ian around Loch Goil. Stunning stunning scenery, loads of nature (including lions-mane jellyfish, seals, an eider duck, gannets, more herons than I've ever seen) and the beautiful local fauna that Ian's expert on. Also totally enjoyed the commentary he gave, a delightful mix of informative facts and local gossip!

- DumbleDad,

Thanks Iain - we had a great afternoon out on the loch with visiting family. The highlight were the seals.

- Leonard Gow from Lochgoilhead

This trip is a must for anyone visiting this beautiful place. The first time I did the trip, we had persistent rain but still managed to see most of the loch, enjoy some time on a remote beach and make friends with seals swimming round our boat. The second time the weather was much better and we managed to go a bit further out to Carrick Castle. Each trip is different and there is so much to see, oyster catchers, porpoises, seals, and landscapes. The host Ian is very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife in and around the loch. He makes a wicked cup of hot chocolate over his camping stove on land and was brought up in lochgoilhead.
