Meet the Steersman
Your steersman and guide Ian Prescott has over thirty years experience of kayaking and canoeing. He grew up in Lochgoilhead and started canoeing Loch Goil as a boy, after years of travelling and living around the globe he has returned to Lochgoilhead believing it to be the ideal location for Argyll Voyageur Canoes. He invites you on board to explore the hidden gems of Loch Goil. Ian is a Qualified BCU Canoe / Kayak Coach with 4 star leader qualifications and has several years experience working as a steersman on Voyageur Canoes in the UK.
Exploring the loch by canoe provides the perfect viewing platform for wildlife, moving in relative silence we are not a disturbance enabling us to get up close to birdlife and marine inhabitants. On our travels so far we have seen guillemots, oyster catchers, curlews, gannets, eider ducks, kingfishers, common and grey seals and eagles. On one trip we even caught the whiff of a whale!
They’ve liked it
Thanks Iain - we had a great afternoon out on the loch with visiting family. The highlight were the seals.
